The determination of seawater alkalinity
 04 Aug 2008: Corals and other organisms deposit calcium carbonate in their skeletons and other body parts. In order to do this they must generate calcium and carbonate at the surface of the growing calcium carbonate crystal. This will have an affect on seawaters alkalinity.

Improved Analysis of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons with the Varian 920-LC and Pursuit™ PAH Column
30 Jul 2008: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are contaminants found in drinking water, ground water, soils and sludges. PAHs are frequently monitored due to their persistence and potential carcinogenic properties. HPLC with UV and/or fluorescence detection is one of the most useful techniques for their determination and is widely used in environmental laboratories. This application note describes an HPLC technique developed using the Varian 920-LC liquid chromatograph and a Varian Pursuit PAH column.
